Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup milk room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 large egg

Equipment

  • 9x5 Large mixing bowl Wooden spoon or spatula

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan. The pan should be fully coated to prevent sticking.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until evenly combined. The mixture should look light and lump-free.
In a separate bowl, whisk milk, oil, and egg until smooth and fully blended.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. The batter should be thick but scoopable—do not overmix.
Transfer the dough into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula. The surface should look slightly textured but even.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice once fully cooled for clean cuts.
